I had such a great week last week that I'm not going to complain about my good or so-so week that followed. We ate out alot - say no more! I did exercise constraint - had a chicken wrap at the Oasis when I really wanted the Mexican platter. I split several meals. Bottom line - my weight stayed the same.
Leah's pushing me off the computer now so I'll just finish this post with one message:
DON'T QUIT!

August 27

Ahhhhh this is all starting to feel great again! I've been creating healthy meals, counting calories, and going for long runs with Charlie and Krista and already after 3 days of it I feel amazing. I haven't lost any weight yet but it's the feeling of cleansing my system and rebuilding my energy that doesn't compare to any other feeling. It's the same feeling of relief and comfort that you get when you get something back that you've really missed. It's alot more work than making mac and cheese and lounging around watching TV all day but certainly alot more gratifying.
Food Today: We had 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese for breakfast, tuna tomato lemon and mayo casarole with baked asparagus with garlic and red bell pepper for lunch and for dinner a moracan chicken with wild rice. It's all low calorie high quanity so we feel full but aren't adding up more than 350 calories per meal. The food part has been a breaze. Activity Today: We went for 60 minutes of cardio around the
neighborhood. After pushing Krista so hard yesterday I decided to take a different approach. We did 1 min jogging 1 min walking on and off all the way down Craddock and LBJ
and back. It was alot longer but more slow paced. I could tell Krista was feeling alot better about it and hopefully she'll be able to keep up with it all over the weekend when I'm not with her. I plan on hitting the treadmile up at the REC this weekend and work on getting back to my 10 minute mile. Tuesday is officially our Jillian workout so I'll need to be IN SHAPE before then or I'll die haha.
Mom- Wow is that what Rush looks like now? He's lost a ton of weight! All from diet but he's also a man don't forget how much easier it is for them to lose weight. Us women have to work harder so don't stop the working out. Not to mention the energy it gives you. Way to go on hitting a new low on your timing with your mile. It's always great when I hit a new low so congratulations! I am down for the December 5k also so I'll mark it on my calander (that I am using) right now.
Whitney- Dress shopping this weekend! :-) I'm so excited to see your final pick! And I'm hoping we can find some pretty bridesmade dresses also. Hope all is going well with your weight loss plans. I'll make us all a healthy Jillian breakfast and lunch this weekend.
Grandma- Hope all is going well. Still hitting up the gym? Glad we're getting a visit this weekend. Maybe we can all go on walk at the park- I know mom misses Charlie so we can go give her a good walk and burn some calories ourselves. Lee- Hope all is going well and hope you join us in the 5k!
I'll leave off with Jillians Tip of the Day:
Do You Have the Right Shoes?
Sometimes people complain about numbness in their toes during workouts. If you're experiencing this, it's most likely because you need bigger shoes. The shoes you wear when you work out should be a half size larger than your normal size, because the feet tend to swell during exercise. The extra space in the shoe will create a comfort zone without screwing up your foot mechanics.
Good luck this weekend ladies

NEW GOAL: Reindeer Run 5k December 12
We should all plan on doing the Reindeer Run on Dec. 12. It's a 5k held in San Antonio. They raise money for Toys for Tots. Let the training begin;-))I am now 55 lbs down and f
eeling pretty good. Jogged a mile in 15:30 last night. I know to some of you(Whitney), that still seems like a big number, but I beat my old record. Put in 60 minutes on the treadmill overall and my T-shirt was soaking wet. I told Steve afterwords, that maybe Rush Limbaugh's theory of losing weight isn't so bad after all. He says that he's gone from 290 to 204 simply by dieting. He does not believe in exercise. My thought is that diet is 100% of losing weight BUT exercise builds muscle strength; heart and lungs. While, I'm not quite ready to adopt the Rush plan, I do believe it's true when he says exercising increases appetite and gives us this false perception that we can now eat more since we burned extra calories.Tonight was not as productive; my Off day. Steve and I vegged on the couch watching a movie and eating popcorn - BUT at least it was air popped corn ( 1 cup = 30 calories). My activity consisted of cleaning the guest room and some weight-lifting exercises.
Mom, glad you are jumping on that path too; it's never too late. I just keep referring to the incredible changes to the Biggest Loser contestants' health just after 3 months of healthy living. All of those with severe medical problems from the start were able to decrease or eliminate their meds for cholestrol, high blood pressure, diabetes etc. They showed pictures of the fat around their lungs decreasing allowing more lung capacity. It was amazing how exercise and good eating made such a huge difference in a short amount of time.
I feel like I'm ba
ck on the right path!<- Funny for the day - Caption reads "Fed up with how her diet is going, Charlene takes a more serious aim at her target weight"
August 26
September 1st is when I officially begin the Jillian work outs. Yesterday Krista and I went to the grocery store and bought all of the Jillian food. We're both working to get fit before halloween and Krista has a trip to the bahamas with a bunch of Bikini models and she wants to fill just as fit as they do. We didn't do a Jillian work out today because it will be Krista's first time so instead we went for a run down Craddock and back. Krista threw up! (I felt guilty cause she told me she would but I told her to just keep pushing and so she did and then I think a combo of the heat and a late breakfast hit her hard) Anyways needless to say we're both out of shape and need some work building up our stamina before we jump right into Jillian.
The food is refreshing though. I'm glad to have started that already.
I hope everyone else is still keeping up with everything nicely.
Whitney- You ready to join me with Jillian? I'm starting the real work out on September 1. I can help you with food nooooo problem. Anytime you want to come over for dinner just let me know!
Grandma- Glad to hear you got a gym membership and are hitting up the pool. I'm going to have to follow your lead and hit up the pool at the REC
Mom- You already look better than Carla but you most certainly want to blow her away so keep it up. Sorry I stole your running partner but I need one pretty badly myself. Charlie is panting pretty hard right now and we weren't out but for 15 minutes. When I bring her back she'll be in great shape and ready to run. You should look up the next 5k and you whit and I should all go!
Lee- You sound like you've got things under control pretty well- congrats on you 10lbs and good luck with the next!
Anyways I'm pretty tired after my jog so I'm going take a nap before my next class.

O'k I'm back. See if I can get into this blogging thing.Lee congrats. Sounds like you are doing great. The walking is really the key.Well I went to see the doctor to have my health evaluated. Reminds me of the old song by Pat Boone "I went to see the gypsy to have my fortune told". You all probably don't know this song. Anyway "the news was not so good".So I left her office and drove over to the gym and signed up for three months. Have already worked out in the pool 3 times. And started my walking again. I am really tired!! But I know it will get better. And ditto to all the reasons for getting fit except for wedding and finding job. Although I do have a 50th wedding coming up this year. Good reason.

OMIGOSH!!!
I must say.....I'm gratefully surprised!!! It was a week from hell. School was horrendous with parents waiting until the ABSOLUTE last moment to provide shot records, register their kids, etc. Does NO ONE know how to plan ahead???????!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am DEFINITELY an emotional eater and I haven't mastered not being a slave to my emotions. Had a few drinks over the week, went out when I should have stayed home, etc BUT..... I lost 3.6 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO thrilled! Stacy and I are still walking 2 miles a day but we've moved off the track and onto streets around the neighborhood, which includes inclines, etc. It is definitely a workout.
Hope everyone has a successful week with both food and exercise.
Talk to you all later,
Lee

The jeans don't lie
I put on my little jeans I bought during my Jillian days a few months ago and they are snug. Not totally hopeless because I got complemented on them, but snug.
I'm back.
Leah and I are supposed to start Sept. 1 but I think I need to start sooner. B and I have engagement photos coming up soon and I want to look skinny in them.
Can't blog for long- at work.
Lee- weigh to go ... haha
Mom - No more pop corn at movies. Oh and is Rachael McAdams skinny or what? The bones in her back were crazy in the movie last night. But she's beautiful. Bet she doesn't have popcorn (or kalaches for breakfast eh emm, sorry)
Mop - You should have internet soon and I'm gonna need your full diet support. It's the food that kills me and drags me down. I'll keep you work out focused if you keep me food focused. The blog helps too of course.
B has his oral review today- fingers crossed. No celebratory fat foods tonight though. Must refrain. Especially if I want to be a hot cop's wife haha. That's a new goal.
Catch y'all later.

Milestones

Lee, you just dropped a 10 lb weight off your body - or an even better image - a 10 lb bowling ball!
I'm trying to lose my next 10 lb bowling ball. Can you imagine physically carrying these objects around all day. If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what is. Keep up the great work!
I wogged 2 miles tonight with Charlie before Leah whisked her away to San Marcos. I'm going to miss my wogging partner (and Leah too!)
It's only Tuesday, but it's been a good week so far. I'm anxious to weigh this Sunday. I'm staying within 1300 calories and exercising every night. The saboteur wanted to go out for Klondike bars tonight and I changed the subject. He didn't go-Phew!
I'll report for Whitney that she is down 2 lbs so far this week. Her computer is messed up so she hasn't been posting. Her goal outside of weight loss, is to get a new computer.
Here's to more bowling balls rolling off our bodies. Well some of us only have one or two balls to lose. I'm working on another SIX!

FIRST GOAL!!
Great news---I lost another 2.6 pounds and have lost my first ten pounds!! With all the things going on in the world, I feel so silly being excited about ten pounds but I hope it's just a start. I can't wait for the next ten to come off, and so on. My calorie count was increased to 1700 pounds until I lose another 10-15 pounds because we are walking 2.5 miles/day now. We only take off on Sundays. It will be decreased as to 1500 calories soon.
Work is picking up FULL FORCE and it's stressful and makes me want to eat bad things. The amount of people who wait until the ABSOLUTE last moment to register their kiddos is staggering. It's stressful and I can't even get away from my desk to go to the bathroom!! Last week, I came home after two horrendous days and we had margaritas!!!! Granted, it was a small glass but that can't become habit. I have to stop myself and question WHY I want to eat or drink when I shouldn't and that's really hard for me to do.
Keep it going ladies!!! Your posts and success are really inspiring!

New Lease on Life!
I confess that the week of "Not Knowing" took my focus far from dieting. Then after the biopsy, I couldn't jog for a week. These are all excuses for why I gained 4 lbs - ugh! The Good news is I feel like I have a new lease on life after finding out that the tumor was benign. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Too many women are not as fortunate and do not get that second chance. With this realization, I need to jump back on the band wagon. I have no excuse now for being lazy, feeling sorry for myself and eating ice cream all night; in general, going back to old bad habits.
I still have the saboteurs and temptations. The difference is that a few weeks ago, I could stand up to them. Lately, the snack monster has been winning the battle (aka Steve aka Dad). I need to be in control again and say "NO thank you" and stick to the plan.
Sabateur->
Leah has encouraged me to blog again and set new goals. Here goes -> New Goal is to be smaller and look better than the Mother of the Groom - HA! I better get busy - I only have 12 months.
The nemesis -
My Dream Mother of the Bride Dress - I need to have a waistline to pull it off:

I jogged every night this week (except tonight) and amazingly, even with the weight gain, the energy is still up. IF I can drop 25 more pounds, it would be like jogging on clouds compared to now, jogging in quick sand. Second New Goal -> to jog on clouds by Nov. 1 (- 22lbs).

And here I go....................

A different August 3rd
So, not so good with the weight this week. I gained 1 pound. However, I'm not TOO discouraged...by reviewing my eating chart with my counselor, we were able to see my mistakes. On a previous eating plan, the 6 week body makeover, I ate 3 small meals with a snack of a protein, usually 3 oz of tuna, and a fruit. On this plan, I have what's called an "anytime bar" with a fruit as one of my snacks. I thought, well, I'll just substitute the tuna for the anytime bar for some variety and things will be fine. Well, on Jenny, that bar is considered a "dairy product" while the tuna is considered protein. So, I had too much protein this week and I'll adjust starting tomorrow. On the upside, I'm walking two miles a day now. Stacy has evenh walked with me on the last two evenings and that's really nice. For one, I'm deathly afraid of stray dogs in our neighborhood. For two, the company is really nice. I'm not going for a speed record or anything...I just want to walk. I do try to keep a brisk tempo but the inclines can slow me down some. It's a break from walking the track at the school behind our house every day, though.
Leah - good for you that your back on the ball. We all have bad days or weekends but we all have the choice of getting back on schedule at the next meal or the next day. More power to you!
Laura - what's the word on your mammogram? Any results yet? You're in my prayers constantly.
Whitney - congratulations on your engagement! I'm sure you're ecstatic....enjoy!!!
Stacy's birthday is this Friday so we're incorporating a dinner out in my meal plans. If we go to Red Lobster, I can have shrimp, double vegetables or maybe veggies and rice and allow myself one biscuit. THAT'S the hard part!!
Hope you all have a good week and talk again soon,
Lee

August 3rd

The weekend was rough. I didn't do well in either category. I did go on a 2 mile walk with Bruegg and Becky during the day Saturday but that was after a big lunch and followed by 2 margarita's at the pool. We had another Whitney and Brian engagement dinner celebration followed by the most delicious cake ever! That was NOT good! but it's a new week and I've started off positively. I went for a jog this morning and had one breakfast taco. I still plan to take Charlie for a walk later this evening after I study.
Mom- I've been praying like crazy for you. I know that if the results aren't what any of us want to hear, your weight loss will be a good thing. It's given you more energy and strength and just a positive outlook on things in general which will certainly come in handy if things get more serious. I had no idea when we were watching that dance that you already knew about your suspicious mammogram...prolly a good thing or I would have cried even harder! We need to take Charlie on a walk tonight. Lets go on a real long walk and we'll time it and see if we can't beat one of your records!
Lee- Congratulations on your weight loss! I knew you'd see results soon enough. That's one thing I've learned in all of this...don't let small numbers discourage you and let every milestone (no matter how small) be something you're proud of. Keep up the good work :-)
Whitney- Still no blogs from you. It's been a long time! You need to jump back on this thing now that you have a very small wedding dress you're going to have to fit into by next year. It certainly couldn't hurt!Ending with Jillians Tip of the Day:

Get Moving!
Do you want to take a preventive measure against colds? Get off your butt! Studies show that the more active your lifestyle is, the less likely you are to contract the common cold. Moderate to vigorous activity — and this includes your cardio and circuit workouts on my program — will help you build not only a better body but a tougher immune system!
Have a great day!
