I gained a pound. (Is this an April Fool's joke by my scale) I've been working my A__ off and eating to plan, staying within 1,000 - 1,200 calories. I got on the scale this evening and WTF, I gained a pound. (This is my kitty pic after weighing today)
I went back to my journal to figure out what I'm doing different this week from the last few weeks. I could not figure it out so I went for an hour long walk/jog at the park. I noticed that my hands were really puffy (puffier than usual) and that after and hour my shirt was not soaking wet which is also unusual. My conclusion is -"Water Weight" - I have been increasing my water intake but NOT decreasing salt. Yesterday, I had a pretzel (salty), asparagus (with salt added), low fat st
ring cheese (very salty), beef boullion soup mixed with my wild rice (both products high on the sodium list) and ended the night with 3 Kalamata olives (also very very salty). That's got to be it! I know you guys have preached about reducing sodium in a healthy eating plan but since I had been losing weight I ignored your advice. I guess you can say that I'm now converted. I need to take in less that 2.4 grams (or 2,400 miligrams) of sodium a day. That equals about a teaspoon of table salt a day. How? Here's my plan from today going forward...
1) Read labels
2) Don't add salt
3) Buy Pretzels without salt
4) One Kalamata olive (I can't give these up)
5) Use lemon more (only lemon)
6) Rinse salt from canned foods (and olives)
7) Buy Healthy Choice meals - they have less sodium
8) EAT more potassium rich foods that counter the affects of sodium
9) Buy some "No Salt" or Salt substitute
Ok, I'm staying positive, motivated (Go Turtle mom!)
