Where are My Teardrops?

I'm working my quads tonight (I know it's not circuit training) but while your dad was hitting golf balls at the range, I decided to do 50 steps per leg using a railroad tie about 18 inches high. The burn set in at 30 each. I had to stop. If Jillian was standing next to me, I might have pushed myself through the burn and hit 50.
When we got home, it was one sprint around the block on our bikes. While the workout was not so much cardio, my quads were screaming "ENOUGH" - I could have used JM yelling at me "Suck It Up and GO." I'm looking for teardrops ; not the kind that run down your face after 60 step-ups but the defined teardrop shaped muscle just above the knee (Vastus Medialis or inner quads). I once had well-developed teardrops in my younger "catcher" days. My new goal "Quest for the Holy Tears" ... (corny, huh?). How will I find these again?
1) Squats - Turning toes outward to focus on inner quads
2) Total Gym - Sled press
3) Step ups
4) Cycling

I tried lunges, but I felt a sharp pain in my knee so I backed off of those...Getting Older really Sucks. It's great that you girls are getting into shape now, before your body starts rebelling from "overuse" and "wear & tear."

One of the questions on Biggest Loser was which exercise will promote longer health benefits - Push ups or Squats? The answer was Squats because strengthening lower body will contribute to better stamina reducing falls and hip injuries that lead to more chronic health problems as one ages.

How did you guys do tonight? Did you Suck It Up or did you whine?

Till tomorrow - I'm off to do some Sled presses and watch Hannity.
