Last nights work out was, of course, pretty rough. We didn't finish until about 1:00! I woke up today wishing I had an endless amount of food. Luckily I was craving all the best stuff like strawberries and yogurt and a 100 calorie snack pack or a banana or a banana nut muffin from fiber one. It's good having the fridge stocked with all of the healthies things so even when I do "go crazy" it's on 100 calories sized things. I had more for breakfast today than usual but i'm still watching my calories so I'm fine. I'll just be having a smaller lunch and dinner. Today is work out day 12 and I'm already so tired. I'm going to have to take a nap if i'm going to be expected to make it through that work out. There is no more After-After btw...a thing of the past. I feel like we've already made this habit. At least I have (with the rare ocassional cheats here and there). I can't do anything without thinking "hm i wonder about the sodium or calories or carbs" and the days we don't work out I feel like my body is being neglected. I like how healthy I feel and I don't want it to ever stop. I don't have much to report and I'm too tired to think so I'll just post Jillians Tip of the Day:
Go Volunteer!
The contestants did something awesome during their challenge this week — they gave back to the community. Think you have some time to volunteer? There are health benefits to doing it too! In a report on the health benefits of volunteering, the Corporation for National and Community Service states that volunteering helps seniors live a longer life, maintain a higher functional ability, and lower their risk of depression and heart disease. Volunteering is a great way to kick loneliness out the door, too, since it involves socializing within your community and meeting new people. To find organizations to work with, visit the Find A Volunteer Opportunity page on the USA Freedom Corps Web site. Spread the good karma!
Drop That Doughnut!
It is important that the incentives you come up with don't revolve around food. There's no sense in pushing yourself through that extra set of lunges (the one exercise you just can't learn to love) or ten more minutes of jogging if you're going to reward yourself with more calories than you burned off. Start learning how to pamper and treat yourself in healthy life- and self-affirming ways that have nothing to do with food. Get a manicure once a month. Go to a movie every week. Treat yourself to some new music to listen to at the gym. Yadda, yadda, yadda — you get the idea.
