Your Dad wanted to take me to the sub sandwich place, Firehouse Subs, that he just loves. Before I went I was determined to look up the calories so I can make a plan for the rest of the day. The Engineer according to the Firehouse website is 380 calories. Great! I can have another 600 tonight. BUT after actually eating this sub, my internal calorie counter whispered to me "who are you fooling, this is more than 380!" .... so when we got home (by the way, we rode our bikes to the sub shop - about 40 minutes round trip) I looked up the calorie count again. This time I noticed in fine print below the Nutrition chart
"300 calories with mayo and cheese". Well duh, it comes with Mayo and swiss cheese. What a sneaky chart. That means I ate 680 calories in one sitting. I'm going to limit myself to a bowl of soup for dinner and 1 cup of grapes. DONE - No MORE!
Everyone congratulate Whitney. She passed the "temptation" test that I live with everyday. Yes, your dad. Whitney watched while everyone else ate delicious plates of food. One can gain weight from just smelling that buttery roll. (p.s. I did not eat the roll) Then your dad waived pasta in front of her face but she stood her ground. Brian asked her if she wanted some of his mushroom sauce covered chicken and still, she said NO. Then your dad cut up a piece of pasta on her plate and STILL SHE SAID NO! Good Job!

Can we be so strong each and everyday that we live with these temptations. On Biggest Loser, the contestants were sent into a room with plates of comfort foods freshly cooked all around them and they had to decide to eat it or walk away. Some actually succumbed to the temptation even knowing that they were on camera and millions of people were watching. How can we be expected to fight off temptations when no one is around when these guys can't even say no in front of the world. So I guess this blog somewhat holds me accountable because I have to report my successes and failures each day.
I am now ready to report my success this week. LOST TWO MORE POUNDS (thank goodness I weighed before the Firehouse Sub) Total loss of 18 lbs since Jan. 11. If I stay at the same rate of loss, 1 - 2 lbs a week, I will lose 75 lbs by Christmas. That's my goal!
Thank you Whitney for the workout yesterday - we did cycling around the neighborhood and then to the track where I did 2 miles walking (a little jogging) and Whitney did 3 miles jogging. After the track, we did some arm work on the Total Gym.
I won't talk about the "setback" , MOVIE POPCORN (my enemy). I'll leave that blog to Whitney.
I'm going to be realistic for next week with Valentines day on Saturday and set a 1 lb loss goal.
A funny Jillian story: One of the contestants returned from working out at home for 30 days only having lost 2 lbs. The contestant started making up excuses like I built muscle weight, I lost inches... Jillian got so mad "TWO LBS IS TWO LBS... YOU ONLY LOST TWO LBS... I'm tired of the bullshit excuses and lies that trainers tell their clients... the scale does not lie... YOU
ONLY LOST TWO LBS"So I'm going to stop with my BS rationalizing and realize that the scale does not lie.... If I don't lose weight then I'm obviously eating more than I'm burning.... that's the bottom line. So I have to eat less and burn more. It seems so simple - why the hell is it so hard then????
"Sucking it up and Staying on Plan"...
OK Leah, it is 1:00 PM and I thought we were going to the track????? I'm going to end now so I can track you down.
